Text: Elements of Literature: Third Course [Holt]
The English 1 course is designed to help students adjust to the rigors of high school academics. We will work together to build our reading, writing, speaking, listening, and vocabulary skills. We will read materials from authors representing a wide range of cultures and time periods. The course complies with the School District of Philadelphia’s Core Curriculum and supplements the Core Curriculum with other valuable literary pieces including:
